Lil Wayne’s Master Plan

With tracks off Drake’s soon to be released album, Take Care, already breaching the Billboard Top Ten before the album release we can start to visualize that the YMCMB crew may be passing down the torch. Business strategy, fate, who knows, but Drizzy’s following and musical output can now be put along the same lines as his master, Lil Wayne. As Weezy approaches 30 (now 29), his glamour will no longer contain the same Young Money swagger it once had. We can view this as Drake, now 25, overcoming the natural tale of time, replenishing the YMCMB motto (with counterpart Nicki Minaj, now 28, drawing in the female market). Ultimately, the growing YMCMB business will grant Lil Wayne enough money to live to old age in immense steadily growing wealth. He has accomplished his ultimate goal, and soon Dr. Carter can sit back and hope his Young Money farm team raises another YMCMB star into the majors.  - S.R.

Album Review: Drake – Take Care

I needed to take some time with this album review because as you may know I cover a lot of Drake and personally he is one of my favorite artists. I had been highly anticipating Take Care for months and was hoping for something to top Thank Me Later. Luckily enough the world (and myself) was given one of the more innovative albums in a long time. This is the Drake everyone went crazy over after So Far Gone. This is a sound many artists cannot do. This is a project that Drake put so much effort, emotion, and time into perfecting each and every song. I’m obviously biased toward Drizzy, but did the best I could to be objective. Comments and critiques always welcome. Hit the jump for the review.

Today HDD reported that Young Money’s Drizzy Drake is projected to move anywhere from 675-725K copies in its first week out. Drake Collaborates With The Weeknd On 4 Take Care Tracks (Video)

Well if you enjoyed “The Real Her” here’s something else that might interest you. Drizzy Drake sat down with MTV and informed us that his OVO soldier, Toronto singer The Weeknd, played a major part collaborating with Drake on his new album. Take Care is in stores November 15th.

“He’s like a writer, collaborator on four songs on my album which I’m very proud of. I usually don’t branch out writing-wise working with other people. I usually like to write all my own stuff, but we get it. We try to tap into the same emotions because we’re from the same city.”

Drake feat. Lil Wayne – The Real Her

What a nice little gift on this beautiful Thursday night. DHH gets the exclusive on one of Drizzy’s cuts off Take Care and this one features his boss Weezy F. If you haven’t liked the R&B Drake of late then you might not enjoy this, and Wayne’s verse is pretty good but not his best. Anyways, Take Care drops November 15th, be ready.

Drake Pushes Take Care Back To November 15th

When we saw this date getting closer, and Drizzy had only released one single “Headlines“, we knew this was a possibility. Drake takes his album even further into sweater season and pushes back his release date to November 15th. Word is that some samples needed to be cleared and that a new single featuring the YM head honcho is dropping soon. Stay tuned!

The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings. This music means too much to me to get attached to dates and I do apologize for the delay but I promise that it is only for the benefit of our experience together. Club Paradise Tour will also be moved to when students are back from the Christmas/New Year break so that I can get to more schools. New dates will be released in the next week…see you all soon.
