Lil Wayne’s Master Plan

With tracks off Drake’s soon to be released album, Take Care, already breaching the Billboard Top Ten before the album release we can start to visualize that the YMCMB crew may be passing down the torch. Business strategy, fate, who knows, but Drizzy’s following and musical output can now be put along the same lines as his master, Lil Wayne. As Weezy approaches 30 (now 29), his glamour will no longer contain the same Young Money swagger it once had. We can view this as Drake, now 25, overcoming the natural tale of time, replenishing the YMCMB motto (with counterpart Nicki Minaj, now 28, drawing in the female market). Ultimately, the growing YMCMB business will grant Lil Wayne enough money to live to old age in immense steadily growing wealth. He has accomplished his ultimate goal, and soon Dr. Carter can sit back and hope his Young Money farm team raises another YMCMB star into the majors.  - S.R.

Fading Superstars of a Generation Passed

This morning I awoke to devastating news; my childhood hero Chipper Jones announced that this would be his final season in the Major Leagues. It is getting to the point where my generation’s most iconic players are reaching the late stages of their careers, slowly drifting into the front offices of the teams they became famous on. Chipper is one of the few remaining star players from the Steroid Era whose reputation has been left unscarred, with an over .300 career batting average, a 1999 NL MVP award, one of the sweetest switch hitting strokes of all-time, and no steroid allegations. Peyton Manning Makes Mistake in Signing with the Broncos

It’s been no secret that the biggest question of the NFL off-season has been where Peyton Manning will land. After missing the entire 2011 season with a neck injury, the Colts decided to part with Manning after 14 seasons in Indianapolis. After much deliberation as to where Manning would choose, it was announced that he would be going to the Denver Broncos, and they rewarded him with a 5-year, $96 million deal. Read More

From a Colt to a Bronco: Manning Chooses Denver

Bronco Manning (Courtesy of nflpassers.com)

What has come to be known as “The Decision Pt. 2″ has apparently come to an unsurprising end. Sources have reported that Peyton Manning, former-star quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, has decided to sign with the Denver Broncos. This decision comes a few weeks after the four-time NFL MVP QB was released by the Colts after having missed the entire 2011-12 season with a neck injury.

First Weekend of the Tournament Review

The First Four games of the tournament proved to be a microcosm of the first weekend; Filled with furious comebacks, but also a couple clunkers. The first Thursday of the NCAA Tournament, what many people consider the true start to the Tournament, was filled with the clunkers. Only the VCU-Wichita State and Colorado-UNLV games were decided by less than 5 points and most of the other games were all but over by the second half. Many fans were scared that this year’s Tournament would fail to live up the the annual hype, but the rest of the weekend was there to remind us that Madness is everywhere. Although there have been no buzzer beaters or overtime games, these last 3 days were filled with stunning upsets, thrilling conclusions, and intense battles. Here are some of the first weekend’s awards: Read More

Key Players in the NCAA Tournament

Jeremy Lamb, Brian Zoubek, Darrell Arthur. What do these three players have in common? None were the best players on their respective national championship teams, but all three were keys to cutting down the nets. Lamb provided the help Kemba Walker needed, nobody could keep Zoubek off the boards, and Darrell Arthur exploded in the title game. That’s the fun of the NCAA tournament, every team has a star, and every so often that star single-handedly leads his team to a title, but it is the lesser-known players who are the deciding factor. Let’s look at players who could be this year’s deciding factor: Read More

Randy Returns to the Bay

Last we saw Randy Moss, he was toiling into the obscurity that is the Tennessee Titans. After playing for three teams during the 2010 season, Moss abruptly retired, but showed a constant desire to get back on the football field. Well now he has his chance; as first reported by Adam Schefter, Moss has agreed to a one year deal with the San Francisco 49ers and coaching wunderkind, Jim Harbaugh, worth between $2.5 million and $4 million. Kevin Hart To J. Cole Alley Oop In The Celebrity All-Star Game (Video)

Cole had a rough night for 3 quarters in the Sprint Celebrity All-Star Game, but came on strong in the 4th. He made up for some of his awful play with this nice finish on the alley oop from Kevin Hart (the eventual MVP). Then Cole showed that he’s got his boy Drizzy’s back and swatted the shit out of Common late in the game. Peep that clip after the jump. Props to yardie on the footage.

Jeremy Lin Revives The New York Knicks (Video)

The New York Knicks have been going through a rough stretch lately with Baron Davis still sidelined and now Carmelo getting injured in the first quarter of last night’s game, but…..there are some bright spots. The best thing going for the Knicks right now is their Asian guard Jeremy Lin, straight outta Harvard. That’s right. Harvard. Harvard is ballin’ this year in NCAA hoops, and now Lin is ballin’ for them in the league. The other night verse the Nets, Lin put up a redonkulous stat line of 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Now who thought he could top that? I’m quite sure no one did, but then last night, Linsanity did it again!!! To help the Knicks defeat the Jazz, Lin dropped a cool 28 points, grabbed 2 boards, dished 8 dimes, and had 2 steals. Maybe the Knicks have found the answer. Thoughts? Hit the jump for Lin’s demolishing of the NJ Nets.

NBA Changes Format Of Rookie-Sophomore Game (Rising Stars Challenge)

Always one of the fan-favorite events of NBA All-Star Weekend, the league is changing up the format for the Rookie-Sophomore Game this year. Chuck and Shaq? This should be awesome. NBA.com reported:

“Barkley and O’Neal will serve as the general managers of two opposing teams, each with nine man rosters, consisting of NBA rookies and sophomores drafted from a pool that was previously selected by the NBA’s assistant coaches. Also, TNT’s Kenny Smith will serve as the honorary Commissioner and Ernie Johnson will host the live BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Draft on Thursday, Feb. 16, on NBA TV at 7 p.m. ET. The pool of players will be announced on Feb. 8, followed by the live BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Draft on Thursday evening, Feb. 16. Fellow TNT Analysts Mike Fratello and Steve Kerr will be part of the coaching staffs for the teams, with Fratello joining TEAM CHUCK and Kerr joining TEAM SHAQ. The Head Coaches for both teams will be the lead assistant coaches from the 2012 NBA All-Star Game coaching staffs.”
