For our last Year In Review Topic we discuss the two icons Kanye West and Lil Wayne. Weezy was the one proclaimed martian (I guess still is), but has Kanye taken that crown from him? YEAR IN REVIEW TOPIC #5: Who’s The Bigger Martian? Lil Wayne Or Kanye West?

For years now Lil Wayne has been claiming his is a straight up martian. That he, Weezy, is from outer space and their ain’t nooooo one else like him. Well now while we are all getting fucked up wrapping up 2011, we see a much different Lil Wayne than we all once knew. Things have changed for Weezy and I don’t necessarily think that he is a full bred martian. Kanye Wes on the other hand proved this year that he’s from an entirely different planet than both us normal people and Mr. Carter. I’ve broken down the comparison into three categories: Music, Style. and Miscellaneous.

Music – Ye’s music took even bigger steps forwards this year, Wayne went backwards. Yeezy’s work on MBDTF was pretty spiritual and innovative, then WTT came and took epic-ness to another level. Ye was on some god-like shit when he was putting together the beats for WTT. The production sounds like its the background music of heavens. Ye’s music has taken being original and innovative to levels no one has ever seen. Weezy had a rougher year in terms of music. His new album wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t crazy and it didn’t “wow” anyone. Bottom line is that Ye and Weezy are at two different stages in their career, Kanye just continues to soar higher and farther into the universe.

Style – If you take into account Weezy’s tat game, then he’s pretty martian like. But when you include the fashion styles of the two, Ye takes the crown for the most out of this world wardrobe. His sneaker line looks like space boots, he’s always rocking the most exclusive shit on earth, and based off his WTT tour on-stage outfit, he’s clearly on some out of this universe shit. I’m not really sure where Ye gets it, but his style and creativity with fashion is most definitely martian-like. Ye takes this one.

Miscellaneous – Now that Weezy is clean and sober, there’s not much else that makes him a martian. Yeah back in the day when he was on sizzurp every minute and blowing kush every other, no one could compare to him. But now, life has changed and things are different. Kanye’s mindset right now is so more more martian-like. His everyday moves are out of this world. His visions for his music, life, and public appearance generate this portrait of something no one has ever seen. Ye is doing things way different than anyone and just continues to get bigger and better.

Overall, as you can read, Ye is clearly the bigger martian as we move in 2012. His music, his style, and overall mindset are way more alien-like than Weezy’s and Kanye continues to “wow” us. How can you not be excited to see what he has in store for 2012? I know I am.
